Ron
and Heddie Leger welcome you to the PawZone where the welfare and
safety of your pet is a priority to us.
We
have lived in Liberty, Missouri for over thirty years. Our
home office is located in scenic Clay County on three acres. We
share our lives with a houseful of happy, cohabitating pets of all
species, and have a revolving door in helping senior citizens with
their pets.
We
are participants and leaders in the Clay County 4-H Dog Obedience
project and love helping children learn that they can teach old dogs
new tricks, and teach their puppies to grow up to be Canine Good Citizens.
We
spend the bulk of our free time with our dogs teaching them
obedience, tracking, herding, agility, and carting. We
participate in competitions, but spend a great deal more of our time
in helping others learn the joys of how to train their dogs.
We
are best known for the animal assisted therapy services we provide
with our dogs. While many therapy or assistance dogs are
trained to work with one person or a specialized task our humane
canine teams serve all age groups from three to ninety-three.
We have worked with at-risk school students, handicapped and downs
syndrome children, infirmed and elderly patients, and provide bite
prevention and pet responsiblity classes to groups of children at
summer camps, and before/after school programs. We are called
upon frequently to fulfill the role of goodwill ambassador in a
variety of public settings, such as Legislative Day at the State
Capitol, and the local Pet Expo.
